Chianti: Wine & Walking Tour

Discover what makes Tuscany wine so amazing, and the region so compelling to visit. Visit the Tuscan Whine School to learn about local wine production, wander through the rolling hills, and spend 7 nights in a lovingly restored Tuscan farmhouse. And admire the medieval villages and architecture that still stand to this day.

Day 1: Fly to Pisa – Castellina in Chianti

Fly to Pisa. Then transfer to Villa Casalta from Castellina in Chianti. Spend 7 nights in a converted farmhouse.

Day 2: Greve – Montefioralle – Castellina

Visit the medieval market town of Greve, Chianti. On the way there, explore the various vineyards and olive groves and stop by Montefioralle, a hilltop village.

After lunch, visit a local winery for a wine tasting session. Then head back to the farmhouse for dinner.

Day 3: Radda in Chianti

Go on a history walk to central Chianti in the morning. In the afternoon, visit a local winery and enjoy some famous chianti classico wine.

Day 4: Siena – Tuscan Wine School

After breakfast, go to Siena and explore the city. Admire the medieval architecture of the local churches and cathedrals, enjoy a coffee at a local café, or shop at the local markets.

In the afternoon, join a 1-hour interactive course at the Tuscan Wine School. Here, you will learn about local wine production and sample a few blends.

Day 5: Free Day

Enjoy a free day of leisure at the farmhouse or explore the area. You can also speak to your guide to arrange a wine-tasting tour or attend a cooking class.

Day 6: Florence

Visit Florence, a city most well known as the origins of the Italian Renaissance. There are many free local tours you can join, which will take you to many famous landmarks.

One of the most popular destinations is the Uffizi Art Galleries. The galleries have artwork by famous artists, including Sandro Botticelli, Raphael, Simone Martini, and Elisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun. We recommend you book a ticket in advance to avoid long queues.

Day 7: San Gimignano

Transfer to San Donato, a quiet hamlet surrounded by farmlands. Then proceed to Montauto and the medieval town of San Gimignano. The walk should take around 3 hours.

In the afternoon, enjoy free leisure exploring San Gimignano. Notable landmarks include the Palazzo Comunale, which is home to the Bologna city council, and the Torre Grossa, the tallest tower in the city.

Day 8: Pisa – London

Transfer to Pisa. Then fly back to London.

If visiting in the summer months, your inbound flight to London may be in the evening. If so, then you will have additional time to explore Pisa. Your group leader will take care of the arrangements in terms of your airport transfer and luggage storage.
