Highlights

Visit the Nabatean Ruins at Hegra

The Nabatean Ruins is the first architectural site in Saudi Arabia to be recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Formerly known as Hegra, it features a range of well-preserved monumental tombs, which date back to the 1st century BC and AD. There are also over 50 inscriptions and some cave drawings.

Explore the Worlds Largest Camel Market

The Al Qassim Camel Market is one of the largest in the world. Every morning at 6am, thousands of animals – including goats, sheep, and dromedaries – are bought and sold here. The Arabian one-humped camel is one of the more prized animals on the market, as it is a prominent source of protein and leather.

Marvel at the Al Ahsa Oasis

The Al Ahsa Oasis is a lush desert oasis and a UNESCO World Heritage region. It is also the world’s largest self-contained oasis in the world, according to Guinness Book of World Records. It contains a variety of hot and cold springs, as well as historic mosques and stunning vistas. The site itself is over 6,000 years old.

Visit the Second-Holiest Islamic City of Medina

Located in the Hejaz region of western Saudi Arabia, Medina is the second holiest city in Islam, followed by Mecca. The city is celebrated as the birthplace of the Muslim community, which was established by Muhammad in 622 CE. The city center features the Prophet’s Mosque, which was partially built by Muhammad himself.

Head Into the Al Balad District of Jeddah

Known as Jeddah’s oldest neighborhood, the Al Balad District features various famous traditional buildings, local restaurants, and a complex maze of tightly woven streets and alleyways. The ancient architecture and coral-stone buildings will transport you back in time, to a world of prehistoric monuments and old neighborhoods.

Appreciate the Ancient Rock Art at Jubbah

Based in the Hail region of Saudi Arabia, the Rock Art in Jubbah is an incredible sight to behold. It contains the remnants of a previously full lake of water, which was since disappeared. There are also numerous inscriptions and petroglyphs on the rock faces, a testament to just how populated and alive the region once was.

Travel Through the Shada Mountains

With Shada meaning to ‘rise’ or ‘soar,’ the Shada Mountains live up to that term by being huge in sense, and complex in density, with the highest peak reaching a staggering 2,300 meters. Just like the Rock Art at Jubbah, Shada Mountains as traces of early civilizations, with engravings found in caves.
