Aside from being enormous in size, a trip to the glacier means being able to view it from multiple angles, giving you a unique perspective on the scale and enormity of the structure.

Marvel at the Fitzroy and Cerro Torre Granite Peaks

Go on a trek across the Cerro Torre peaks, marveling at the incredible surrounding peaks and valleys. You’ll also enjoy stunning sights of Mount Fitzroy, which is the tallest mountain in the Argentine Patagonia.

Explore the Expansive Patagonian Steppe

Along the way, you’ll also enjoy stunning, panoramic views of your surroundings, providing plenty of photographic and sightseeing opportunities.

Day 1: Leave London

Fly from London to Buenos Aires

Day 2: Buenos Aires

Arrive at Buenos Aires and attend a welcome briefing with your local leader. Spend the day exploring the city. And enjoy free leisure in the evening.

Stay overnight at the Deco Recoleta Hotel or similar.

Day 3: El Calafate | El Chaltén

In the morning, fly from Buenos Aires to El Calafate. Then take a 3-to-4-hour trip to transfer to the small town of El Chaltén. The town is situated near the Los Glaciares National Park, and it provides incredible views of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field and Mount Fitzroy.

Stay for 2 nights at the Hosteria Don Atilio or similar.

Day 4: Los Glaciares National Park | Cerro Fitzroy Base Camp

Enjoy a full day of walking throughout the Los Glaciares National Park. In the morning, hike to the Cerro Fitzroy Base Camp, and in the afternoon proceed to the Laguna de los Tres glacial lake. The lake has still waters that reflect the 3 surrounding mountain peaks.

Day 5: El Calafate

Enjoy various optional activities or spend free leisure in the morning. In the late afternoon, take a 3-to-4-hour trip back to El Calafate.

Spend 3 nights at the Hosteria Tierra Tehulche or similar.

Day 6: Perito Moreno Glacier

Visit the Perito Moreno Glacier, a must-see destination that is home to the fastest-moving glacier in the world. While there, you can marvel at the glacier from multiple angles, and you may even see chunks of ice fall from the glacier and into the waters below.

There is also an optional boat trip, letting you marvel at the glacier from even more unique perspectives.

Day 7: El Calafate

Spend a second day in El Calafate. Go for a pleasant walk along Lago Argentina, which features various species of birds; most notably flamingos. There is also a more challenging hike, which provides fantastic views over the Patagonian Steppe.

Alternatively, take part in an optional trip to a local estancia (ranch), or go to the Todo Glaciares. The Todo Glaciares trip will take you to Ipsala Glacier, Spegazzinni Glacier, and Bahia Onelli.

Day 8: Torres del Paine National Park

Enjoy breakfast then spend most of the day (about 8 to 9 hours) travelling; going across the border to Chile, arriving at one of the most beautiful parks in the world: the Torres del Paine National Park.

Meet your Chilean guide and take a drive around the park.

If time permits, you may go for a walking tour next to the Laguna Azul or Laguna Amarga. Both locations provides incredible views of the Paine Massif and the Horns of Paine.

Day 9: Torres del Paine National Park | Puerto Natales

Go for a memorable, scenic hike to the base of the Torres del Paine Park. The talk itself is considered a highlight of the trip. Along the way you will travel through lush rainforests, rocky terrain, and a small lake at the base of the camp.

Please note, the trek is quite long and difficult, and will require a reasonably good level of fitness and confidence. Adverse weather conditions can make the trek harder. Your tour guide will help you navigate the tough terrain and steep hills, ensuring your journey is safe and manageable. Upon arrival, transer to Puerto Natalse

Stay overnight at the Hotel Lady Florence Dixie or Hotel Baquedano.

Day 10: Tierra del Fuego

After breakfast, enjoy free leisure in the morning. Then, in the afternoon, transfer to Cerro Somberero. The journey will involve a short ferry trip over the Magellan Straits. The trip will take about 7 to 8 hours to complete, so take plenty of water and snacks.

Stay overnight in the Hosteria Tunkelen or similar.

Day 11: Ushuaia

Also known as the “Land of Fire,” named after the original inhabitants of the land, who lit bonfires to withstand the harsh winter chill. After crossing the island, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Andes and catch a glimpse of Usuaia.

Most of the day will involve driving and take about 7 – 8 hours to complete. Arrive at the hotel mid-afternoon.

Spend 2 nights at the Hotel Ushuaia or similar.

Day 12: Tierra del Fuego National Park | Optional Visit to Penguin Colony

Spend the morning exploring the Tierra del Fuego National Park. A brilliant, expansive, and lush nature park with varied flora and fauna. In the afternoon, there is an optional boat trip to the Beagle Channel, which is home to a wide range of marine life such as penguins, sea lions, and flightless ducks. You’ll also enjoy spectacular views of Ushuaia.

There is also an optional half-day 4WD excursion. Here, you’ll head into the deep wilderness of Tierra del Fuego, along with the Escondido and Fagnano lakes.

Day 13: Fly to Buenos Aires

Depending on your flight schedule, there may be time for free leisure in the morning. Explore the town of Ushuaia, the vibrant port city that has local markets, plenty of dining opportunities, and multi-colored architecture – a treat for the eyes.

From there, fly back to Buenos Aires. You may have time to attend a tango show at the San Telmo. Then enjoy one last group meal.

Stay overnight at the Deco Recoleta Hotel or similar.

Day 14: Leave Buenos Aires

Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for more free leisure. If desired, participate in one of the many activities on offer, which include hiking, sailing, kayaking, and even scuba diving. Otherwise, take your scheduled flight and return to London.
