Introduction

Chile is a destination full of marvellous contrasts and cultural delights. Its diverse landscapes offer volcanic, mountainous terrain, enormous glaciers and verdant forests. This wilderness has much to offer an adventurous traveller. Large cities with lovely beaches contrast with little communities where the local customs are preserved, and relaxed expansive sandy esplanades and intense sunshine, contradict with vivid blue lagoons.

Naturally beautiful there is an abundance of both plant and animal life. Penguins, pelicans, and sea lions live along the expansive shoreline, and migrating whales can be observed swimming in the waters as they travel to and from feeding and breeding places. On Chile’s varied landscapes, you may find puma, alpacas, vicunas, foxes, condors, and flamingos.

Santiago, Chile’s metropolitan capital, is well worth a few days’ visit, and you will enjoy exploring the neighbouring seaside city of Valparaiso with its maze of cobblestone streets and vibrant architecture. Magnificent volcanoes and lakes surrounded by forests are waiting in the charming Chilean Lake District.

On your Chilean adventure it is well worth discovering the enormous Moai statues and the jagged coast of the beautiful, secluded, Easter Island.

Travel to Chile for its breath-taking scenery, world-class vineyards, and unspoiled wilderness activities.
