Sample Itinerary

Day 1: San Jose, Costa Rica

You will begin your Costa Rican holiday adventure by arriving in San Jose for an overnight stay.

Days 2 & 3: Tortuguero

Your adventure begins by visiting the village of Tortuguero, renowned for its green turtles that nest on its beaches. Other turtles including the giant leatherback, hawksbill and loggerhead turtle also nest there too. If you are lucky, you may witness the newly hatched turtles head towards the sea. The Tortuguero National Park is also fantastic for wildlife watching along its lagoons and rivers, including many species of birds and monkeys, such as the spider monkey and the capuchin monkey.

Day 4: Arenal

On your route to Arenal, take a boat ride to Guápiles and check out an amazing tropical garden.

Day 5: Arenal

Enjoy a wonderful hike to Arenal Volcano. Arenal is surrounded by an abundance of rainforests, hot springs, waterfalls making it the perfect place for an adventure. You could extend your hike by enjoying a horseback ride and discover the underground caves. If you fancy an adrenaline rush, why not take a mountain bike ride, rafting adventure or rappelling!

Day 6: Arenal

A day of adventure awaits you as you enjoy rappelling in the Costa Rican Arenal Volcano.

Day 7: Monteverde

Your day will begin with a visit to Monteverde, a magical rainforest reserve situated between two cloud forests. Monteverde is evergreen thanks to its precipitation and moist clouds, the latter formed due to fog created on the forest canopy. You could hike the trails or go on a canopy tour to take incredible photos of this stunning landscape. There are also many coffee plantations located in Montaverde too! Following your visit to Monteverde you will sail across Lake Arenal.

Day 8: Monteverde

Your trip to Monteverde would not be complete without experiencing the flavourful cup of java! Head to the coffee plantations to learn all about the coffee making process, from plantation to roastery and its formation in the coffee lab – sampling for yourself the brew that wakes the world!

Days 9 & 10: Guanacaste

Explore the pristine canyon landscapes, rare dwarf forest, and natural springs of Guanacaste from your premium eco-lodge. There are activities like hiking, white-water rafting, and zip lining. The area is especially known for its sugarcane and beef produce, whilst also featuring amazing wildlife and national parks. Its name derives from Costa Rica’s national tree, the Guanacaste.

Days 11-14: Tamarindo

Visit Tamarindo’s white beaches for some time relaxing by the sea. Its beaches, including Playa Grande and Playa Negra, to name a few, are fantastic surfing spots too for any type of level. Its beaches are adorned with soft sand, crystal clear waters and can be the perfect getaway for long walks on the shore, sailing or kayaking. After a day at the beach, you can dine in the local restaurants sampling authentic Costa Rican food, practice some golfing or get on a cycle and explore the forest trails. For any nature enthusiasts you may wish to explore Tamarindo’s National Parks, such as Marino Las Baulas in Playa Grande to discover the varied species of plants and wildlife that inhabit the area.

Day 15: San Jose

Following a final walk along Tamarindo’s beaches, head over to San Jose for your return flight home.
