Explore the wild, unpredictable landscape of Costa Rica, and its varied beaches, waterfalls, volcanoes, and rainforests. Travel into the hot, humid jungle and cruise through the Tortuguero waterways via boat, keeping an eye out for toucans, monkeys, and turtles. Be sure to visit the Sloth Sanctuary as well, which is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sloths.
From Blue-Crowned Motmots to Eyelash Palm Pitvipers, West Indian Manatees to Spider Monkeys, Costa Rica has a varied mix of land, bird, and marine wildlife.
Located on the northeast Caribbean coast, Tortuguero National Park is one of the largest tropical rainforests in Costa Rica. The park has a range of waterways and beaches, which are best viewed by boat on the Tortuguero canals. The highlight of the trip are the nesting turtles, who nest between June and October. They are best viewed during a scheduled night tour.
Established in 1992, the Sloth Sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing sloths back into the wild. You will get a chance to meet the people who make the Sanctuary a success. And you will learn about their preservation efforts. Of course, sloth sightings are part of the experience.
